You are from Kazakhstan. Does Maersk Oil differ from other Kazakh organisations?
It is difficult to compare, but from the employment perspective, Maersk Oil is considered to be one of the best international oil companies. It has a good name, and people recognise the blue flag with the white star.

Maersk Oil treats its employees well. Even if it does not have to, the company helps when employees experience difficulties of a private nature.

What do you like about working for Maersk Oil?
I like the company culture. You are expected to work independently, manage your work efficiently, set your own goals and achieve them. Initiative is highly appreciated. My boss always listens and welcomes proposals.

In general, I really like working at Maersk Oil. I did a Master’s Degree in Stockholm – that was when I became interested in Maersk Oil. In my experience, Scandinavians are honest and fair, and I think the Maersk Oil culture reflects that.

What it is like working in the international environment at Maersk Oil?
In our legal team we have Danish, Hungarian, English, Italian, Swedish and Kazakh nationals. We have different education, background and professional experiences, and it is extremely interesting to discuss and share them.

I believe that there are no principle differences in people of different nationalities, even if they grew up in very different systems and circumstances. However, there are certain cultural differences and I find that learning about them is an extremely valuable experience.

Furthermore, I appreciate the opportunity to grow professionally within the organisation and experience working in different countries. I worked in Maersk Oil Kazakhstan for 6 years and now I work in Maersk Oil Denmark and being able to work overseas is also one of the advantages of working in an international company.
