Agreement on exploration and production sharing offshore Suriname

On 9 November 2004, Mærsk Olie og Gas (Maersk Oil) signed an agreement with state oil company Staatsolie of Suriname regarding exploration and production sharing in Block 31 offshore Suriname.

Block 31 is located 30 kilometers from the coast and encompasses an area of some 13,800 square kilometers in waters varying in depth from 20 to 50 meters.

Initially, Maersk Oil will carry out an exploration programme with collection and interpretation of seismic data. This work is expected to be commenced in the immediate future. Based thereon, decision regarding possible drilling activity will be made later.
