The UN Global Compact
The A.P. Moller-Maersk Group signed up the internationally acknowledged framework for sustainability, the UN Global Compact, in March 2009. This emphasises our commitment to sustainable development within the areas of human rights, labour rights, environment and anti-corruption.

The UN Global Compact is a voluntary initiative based on ten key principles in the areas of human rights, labour rights, the environment, and anti-corruption. The aim is top promote the development of responsible corporate citizenship, where businesses contribute to the solution to some of the challenges of globalization. More than 5,300 companies from around the world have signed up so far.

Anti-Corruption

In Maersk Oil we are dedicated towards conduction our business in a fair and transparent manner. Our anti-corruption policies are intended to help our employees who find themselves having to deal with difficult situations where ethical choices must be made. An unsavory situation which unfortunately occurs occasionally for any company working globally. Our legal department has established a set of policies, compliance tools and training programs to answer this question. These initiatives include:

  • A Group anti-corruption policy and set of comprehensive guidelines
  • In-person and online training sessions
  • Use of due-diligence materials in selecting certain categories of business partners, e.g. agents, JV partners and large-scale suppliers
  • Use of risk-based standard compliance contract clauses
  • Ongoing internal monitoring as implementation proceeds, including gathering feedback on necessary improvement.

The program incorporates elements from other companies' programs, standards proposed by various NGOs and enforcement agencies, as well as significant practical input from our stakeholders.
