Maersk Oil is active in Norway
In 2005, Maersk Oil acquired a 60% interest and the operatorship in licence 018 C covering part of Block 1/5. The licence includes a share of the Flyndre oil discovery.
In 2007, Maersk Oil was awarded participation in the licences PL443-444, covering parts of the blocks 33/12 and 34/8, 9 & 11all located in the Northern Viking Graben area. Maersk Oil holds 20-35% interest in the different partnerships with Nexen or Wintershall as Operator.
Further, in 2008, Maersk Oil has been awarded 6 new exploration licences in parts of Blocks 16, 6406 and 6506, located in the North Sea/Norwegian Sea/Haltenbanken Area. Maersk Oil holds an equity interest of 20-50% in the licences in different partner constellations and with operatorship in one (licence 513). Seismic acquisition and exploration drilling are planned for the period 2009-11.
